Memories Of My Friend Billy Joe Daugherty

By Rev. Johnny Lee Clary

Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty
April 23rd, 1952-Nov. 22nd, 2009

Today is a very sad day for me. As I write this on Nov. 22nd, 2009, I just received news an hour ago that after a month long battle with cancer, Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty, one of the world’s best known pastors, passed away early this morning and moved up to his eternal home in heaven. He was 57 years old. He was my pastor for many years before I moved away from Tulsa in 2007. He was not only my pastor, but my mentor and my personal friend. He pastured one of the largest churches in the nation, Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

This man was my friend. No , I can’t claim that I was one of his closest friends in the world, or that I was a part of his inner circle of best friends, but I did share a friendship on a personal level with him that was very valuable and taught me a lot about living a life for God. I would like to share some of those memories I have of him with you if you will let me.

Billy Joe Daugherty believed in me when others did not. I was the former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, and I quit the Klan and came to his church in 1990. I dedicated my life to God and learned under his ministry. Still there were those who believed that God would never save a former KKK member and certainly would not use him in the ministry. There were a few people who wanted me to leave but Billy Joe wanted me to stay. He had me preach for him several times and even lost a few church members who resented him continuing to support me and have me preach from his pulpit. He never abandoned me as a friend, even when I was hard to love. We once had a disagreement back in 1998, and I didn’t speak to him for a few months. He called me up on the phone and I was sort of rude to him, but he said, “Johnny I am thinking of you, I love you, miss you and you are always welcome back at the church. If I have done anything wrong to you Johnny, please forgive me.” With arrogance, I thanked him for calling and didn’t ask him for forgiveness.

A few weeks later, a girl who was a close friend of mine who attended Billy Joe’s church, committed suicide. I was devastated. I was thinking about walking away from the ministry about the time this happened. I was driving my car with tears in my eyes, when suddenly I felt the need to talk to Billy Joe. As I pulled up in front of his house, he walked out onto the front porch in his socks, and in spite of all I had said and did to him, he held his arms out to hug me as I walked up onto his porch. We sat and talked for the longest time, and he explained things to me that I don’t believe anyone else could have at that point in my life. I asked forgiveness for the way I had treated him. He forgave me and still believed in me. I asked him if I could come back to the church and he said “Of course you can!” Not only did I come back but he put me in the ministerial fellowship of International Charismatic Bible Ministries on which he was on the board. He made a beautiful video in 2006 about choosing to forgive in which featured himself, me and the late Rev. Wade Watts that you can see on youtube.com.

Pastor Billy Joe loved me and taught me the ways of God, and not the ways of man. There are some people who are on this earth today who can give a special prayer of thanks to God for Billy Joe taking the time to help me grow in God, because if it were not for what Billy Joe invested in me, some of them would have had broken jaws, their butts kicked, their houses burned down and maybe even worse because of what they did to me. I wasn’t exactly a nice little wimp when I was head of the KKK. I had been used to being a leader and in gang life all my life, in addition to being a pro wrestling champion, so it would take me awhile to renew my mind after I got saved and some church people did not take this into consideration. They kept pushing me on more than one occasion simply because either they were jealous of my ministry or just plain didn’t like me. Billy Joe was always there and saw it for himself and Billy Joe always told me, “Johnny Lee, see to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” (Hebrews 12:15)

He never got bitter at anyone. I used to needle at him sometimes just to see how far I could push his buttons but he never lost his cool. At the church one night, I showed up with a whoopee cushion, a hand buzzer and some other things I purchased at a novelty joke shop. I went to shake his hand with that hand buzzer and he jumped about 4 feet in the air, but he didn’t get mad. A rather large lady did though when I placed the whoopee cushion in her seat and she told Billy Joe I needed to act my age and not my shoe size! Ha Ha! I got Pastor Sharon with the hand buzzer too and Billy Joe came looking for me outside the entrance door and then told me to behave myself! He didn’t get mad and said it with a half smile but I didn’t bring the joke stuff back to church anymore after that either. He was a pastor to me in making sure I was taught the word of God and since I have a worldwide public ministry also, he took the time to make sure that I represented Jesus in the right way. After all, I was a member of his church and whatever I did reflected on him. He made sure I was grounded in God’s word before releasing me into the ministry. He ordained me. He supported me. He was mentor to me and even when busy he took the time to call if I needed him or to go to lunch with me. He chastised me when I needed it and encouraged me when I needed it. There was that time that my ex-girlfriend Cynthia and I showed up at the church picnic with non-alcoholic beer and I teased Billy Joe asking him if he would like a beer! He gave me this look and then we told him it was non-alcoholic. He made the point to me that we knew that, and now he knew that, but does everyone else know that one of the ministers was drinking non-alcoholic beer? He explained about abstaining from the appearance of evil and causing people to be a stumbling block. ( 1 Thess. 5:22; Romans 14:13) I put it away after that.

He used to do imitations of Flipper the Dolphin when he preached years ago, and he could do that like no other. I bought him a Flipper ink pen that made the Flipper sound when you pressed the button. He got the biggest kick out of that. Then there was the time it snowed during a Wednesday night service and I ran outside after church and made snowballs and was pelting people and people were inside the door and told Pastor Billy Joe I was on the loose with snowballs. He came outside and made some of his own and threw them back at me. Being a former football player he had better aim than I did! I lost that battle!

Billy Joe used to take me with him to go do crusades in the low-income projects of North Tulsa, which is about 99% African American. I walked around knocking on doors with him to invite people to the tent revival. I never will forget what happened. He knocked on a door where you could smell the marijuana smoke and three big black dudes who looked like gang members came to the door and Billy Joe said “Praise the Lord guys! Look who I have here! I want you to meet the former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan!” My heart almost dropped. I was not packing a gun and the first thought in my mind was “I’m dead!” Then one of the Black guys threw open the door, and reached out towards me and smiled and said, “Hey I saw you on TV! Let me shake your hand!” Two of the men came to the tent and listened to my testimony and gave their lives to Jesus when Billy Joe gave the alter call. He always was led of the Holy Spirit and seemed to know exactly what he was doing.

The first time Billy Joe invited me to preach for him at Victory to do a Sunday night service, I asked him if I could invite Rev. Wade Watts to come speak with me. He said that was a great idea! There was a group of people who attended Victory that hated me and they began to pray against the meeting and for God to open Billy Joe’s eyes as to what kind of evil person I was and to cancel the meeting. Of course they were praying this behind Pastor Billy Joe’s back. They didn’t dare say it to him. The meeting was advertised all over town and there was a big flashing marquee in front of the ORU Mabee Center that had our names on it. The KKK in Tulsa got wind of the meeting and sprung into action. Two twin brothers, Dennis and Daniel Mahon who were once my right hand guys when I was in the Klan, snuck into ORU Mabee Center and being experienced electricians they burned out the wiring system causing $300,000.00 worth of damages. There were no lights in the building when we pulled up in front and fire trucks were everywhere. The people who were praying against the meeting were dancing and jumping up and down slapping each other the “high five” thanking God for answering their prayers and canceling the meeting. $300,000.00 damage and these so-called “Christians” were celebrating! They celebrated too soon though, as Pastor Billy Joe drove up and told us to move everything across the street to the gymnasium and we would have the meeting there. Being a denominational pastor, Rev. Watts was not raised in the word of faith circles. He was not familiar with positive confessions all the time so when Pastor Billy Joe walked in the room, Rev. Watts stood to his feet, and said, “Pastor Billy Joe, I’ve been to Alabama and the Devil was there. I’ve been to Mississippi and the Devil was there. I’ve been to Georgia and the Devil was there. Now I’ve come here to Oral Roberts University, and the Devil is here.” Pastor Billy Joe immediately looked at Rev. Watts and said, “No Sir Rev. Watts! The Devil is not here! We ran the Devil out of here! We are giving no ground to the Devil! This place belongs to Jesus and we give Him glory!” Rev. Watts said “Oh OK.” I took Pastor Billy Joe aside and said, “Billy Joe, Rev. Watts doesn’t understand the Word of Faith,” and Billy Joe said, “I had to say something to him otherwise he would have went out there on that stage and told everyone that and would have alienated half that crowd.” Billy Joe was 100% right. Rev. Watts gave to no credit to the Devil that night when he spoke. We had 2000 in attendance and 200 people got saved at the altar call! To God Be The Glory like Billy Joe said!

As for the wiring job the Mahon’s did to ORU’s Mabee Center, the insurance cut a check for a million dollars and ORU rewired the entire Mabee Center and was able to purchase some additional items that were needed too! Dennis Mahon drove over to Billy Joe’s house one night and claimed to have put White Supremacist racist literature all over Billy Joe’s house and under the windshield wipers of their family vehicles. He also bragged that he cut one of Billy Joe’s tires on his car. I told Mahon he needed to get his life right with Christ and repent and he refused. Billy Joe told me to stay away from Mahon because he was crazy and to have nothing else to do with him. I followed Billy Joe’s advice and never spoke to Mahon again. In the spring of 2009, the FBI surrounded the home of both Dennis and Daniel Mahon in an early morning dawn raid and arrested them both as they were charged with mailing a letter bomb to a Black man in Arizona which exploded, crippling his hand. If he had turned the box the opposite way he would have had his chest penetrated with shrapnel and most likely would have died. They both are being held without bail and face spending the rest of their lives in prison. As Billy Joe always preached what the word says, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm. (1 Chronicles 16:22) The Mahon brothers reaped the seeds they had sown. (Galatians 6:7)

Billy Joe Daugherty amazed me on more than one occasion. Once a guy hit him at the altar call and as Billy Joe turned around to walk away he hit him again, and then security grabbed him. Billy Joe was bleeding and just kept right on preaching. Billy Joe didn’t want to press charges but the police did. He went to see the man in jail and the man refused to repent and even threatened him again. Later the man wrote Billy Joe a letter apologizing .

Another time Billy Joe amazed me was when Rev. Watts and myself were invited back to preach in 1996 and I took the service myself because Rev. Watts didn’t make it. He had been battling diabetes and gangrene had set in and so the day before we were scheduled to preach, his leg was amputated. On Monday morning I went over to Billy Joe’s house and picked him up in my car and we drove to McAlester, Oklahoma to visit Rev. Watts in the hospital. He was lying in his bed cracking jokes as Billy Joe and I walked into the room. Billy Joe told me on the way home that Rev. Watts had a special spirit about him, to be able to joke after having his leg cut off. He told me he personally could not do that and be in that good of mood and I told him I couldn’t either. As we were visiting with Rev. Watts, the Sheriff walked in. Rev. Watts went to introduce the Sheriff and he recognized Pastor Billy Joe and then turned to me and said, “You don’t remember me do you?” I replied, “I think so. You look familiar.” The Sheriff said, “I was on the Highway Patrol (State Police) back years ago when you were down here with the Klan harassing Rev. Watts. I came up and started telling you and your gang off for passing out those KKK pamphlets.” “Oh yes,” I replied. “You were the cop that after I told you we were in our legal rights to distribute the pamphlets, you said if you even found one on the ground you were going to hold me responsible and arrest me for littering. I think the fine was up to a thousand dollars, so we all packed up our sheets and left.” The Sheriff replied, “Very good memory! Yep..that was me!” The following Sunday Billy Joe was preaching. His services are carried on national TV. He told the story about how he and I went down to visit Rev. Watts and met the Sheriff. Billy Joe was telling how he stood back and listened to the conversation and said suddenly he realized that all those stories Rev. Watts and I had been telling were true! I said to him after the service, “Billy Joe you have known me now for a few years and you mean to tell me that you weren’t sure if my stories were true or not?” Billy Joe laughed and said, “Well Johnny Lee if I ever had a doubt in my mind, I don’t now! I’m a believer!” Ha Ha!

Pastor Billy Joe was really tired that morning and Pastor Sharon had made me promise that I would not keep him talking all the way down to McAlester as it was a long drive. She told me that if he wanted to sleep to let him. As soon as Billy Joe got in my car he kicked off his shoes and reclined his seat and went to sleep. I am one of these drivers that just can’t seem to drive without music, but I had to that day because I didn’t want to keep him awake. I had lots of questions to ask him and due to the fact that he pastored one of the largest churches in the USA, he didn’t always have a whole lot of time available so I wanted to use this time for talk. I had promised Pastor Sharon though, that I would not keep him awake talking so I felt it was more important to keep my word to her, so I didn’t disturb him on the way down but he was wide awake returning so I got most of my questions answered on the way home.

We discussed a lot of things that day. I was a little egocentric at that time in my life when it came to dating, as I had four different girls that liked me from the church, all at the same time. I liked all 4 of them. Three were on Pastor Sharon’s praise and worship team and one was in the church band. They were all fighting over who was going to get to be my girlfriend. I was such a player in those days. I remember telling Billy Joe that I found it hard being attractive and the object of desire for so many girls. Pastor Billy Joe shook his head and explained to me in so many words that I needed to come down off my high horse and realize that it is the anointing the girls were attracted to and not because I was some sort of modern day Elvis or something along those lines. He also explained to me of why I needed to set boundaries when it came to dating and conduct myself as a man of God. I didn’t end up with any of those girls after that.

Billy Joe also showed me how humble he was that day. I told him how I had been to Higher Dimensions church and how Pastor Carlton Pearson was driving a gold-plated black Cadillac and the Gospel singer Carman was driving a gold-plated Alexis. I asked him if I should upgrade my 86 Lincoln Towncar to keep up with ministry trends, and questioned him of why he only drove a 1991 Chevrolet Lumina when his church was 10 times larger than Pearson’s. Billy Joe told me that if that is what those guys felt they needed to do that was up to them but his car was worth a million dollars to him. I asked for him to explain and he did. He told me that if he needed to raise money to feed the poor or anything to get the gospel around the world, the people who give are not going to be hindered in their giving because of what he drives. He told me I had nothing to be ashamed about driving an older car. He said, “Your car is old but it is nice and well kept and people will not be hesitant to help you get the gospel out if they don’t see you driving a gold plated Cadillac.” He taught me a valuable lesson that day. Our job is to represent God and gain God’s approval, not man’s.

He practiced what he preached in not only what he drove, but also lived in a regular modest house, and he and Sharon shopped at Wal-Mart all the time. When I was invited to Carlton Pearson’s wedding, it was by invitation only. Many well-known ministers from around the world were there. I was given a seat on one of the last two rows in the back. I saw some very well known preachers come in and ask the ushers to seat them in the front. Then Billy Joe and Sharon walked in. One of the ushers immediately recognized them and asked if they wanted to be taken to the front, and Billy Joe said, “No, we will just sit here in the back next to Johnny Lee.”

You see, my friend Billy Joe Daugherty was not about being recognized and being given superstar status. To him there was but ONE Superstar and His name is Jesus.

Well these were just some stories of memories I will always have of my friend, Billy Joe Daugherty. I will say now what I have said to other friends and loved ones that have gone on before. This isn’t good-bye but so long for now. I will see you again, Billy Joe!

There is an old Jewish saying that goes something like "He who finds a faithful friend, finds a treasure." Well I can truly say I found a treasure in Billy Joe Daugherty, because his friendship was a treasure, and the things I learned from him, I shall keep in my heart, soul, mind, and walk with God forever. This is just my story of a great man God allowed me to know in life, who was perhaps one of the greatest of God’s Generals that ever lived. You can ask anyone who knew him and they would agree. That’s my story and tribute to my friend, Billy Joe Daugherty.

GET YOUR HEALING FROM THE DOCTOR

By Rev. Johnny Lee Clary

The Bible is very clear about Jesus healing today. Too many negative nincompoops are out there teaching that healing was for Jesus’ day but not for today. They even go so far as to say that sickness in our bodies was put there by God for punishment of some sort. Nothing can be further from the truth. There is a variety of reasons people get sick, but we don’t need to go into all of them except to say that a lot, not all, but a lot of sickness is the result of the choices that we make, like lack of exercise, improper foods, use of drugs and alcohol, etc. Then there are some that just seem to develop illnesses and they seem to have done everything in their power to prevent sickness. Some illnesses are better left to be explained by doctors and some illnesses there just seems to be no explanation for. What I do know is that Jesus is still in the healing business today just like He was when He walked the earth in bodily form.

If you serve Jesus then you serve a healing Jesus. Mathew 4:23 says that Jesus went about Galilee teaching, preaching and healing all the sickness and disease that the people had. Now if you believe the Bible to be truth, then you must also believe Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. That means He still heals today. If you say He does not then you do not believe the Bible and certainly do not follow the Jesus of the Bible. You therefore are an unbeliever. If you say Jesus does not heal today then you are calling Jesus a liar. Well, Jesus is no liar. The liars are the ones who say Jesus doesn’t heal today.

The life of Jesus showed nothing but compassion and love. Since He laid down His life by going to the cross for mankind, why in the world would someone dare think He doesn’t love people enough to heal them? Greater love has no man than He who lay down His life for a friend. (John 15:13)

Now let me make it perfectly clear that no man can heal anyone. It takes Jesus to do the healing. Now I can just hear the agnostics and heathens saying right now that doctors heal people. My answer to that is the doctors would not have the knowledge or the medicines to heal if it were not for the knowledge that God gave them to develop those medicines and do those operations. End of argument.

Now I have witnessed many people going to faith healers and even waiting in long lines for hours because they wanted healing from a sickness. Now some people would say that they are not looking to the man for healing, but if that were so then why do they wait in those long lines instead of just going to their local church or gathering up some fellow believers for the prayer for the healing? You see, some get all caught up in the hype of the big name minister that has a reputation for faith healings in his meetings that they forget that Jesus is the one doing the healing and not the faith healer. I like what Benny Hinn once said when Larry King asked him on TV how many people he had healed. Hinn replied, “Not one Larry. Jesus is the healer not me.” Because of that attitude I believe that is why God has blessed Hinn so much. We need to develop those same attitudes.

Matthew 14:35-36: “The men there recognized Jesus and sent messengers all around the countryside. The people brought him everyone who was sick. They begged him to let them touch just the edge of his clothes. Everyone who touched his clothes was healed.” This scripture should always remind us to reach out to Jesus and look to Him for the healing.

Psalm 30:2O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.” When we pray to Him and believe Him for the answer that is when we see the results. We have to do our part too, like not only prayer and belief in Jesus to do the healing but also we have eat healthy and make the right decisions and listen to our doctors.

In early 2008 I had a physical done and was told I had about 6 years left to live. I was told I was borderline diabetic, had high blood pressure, gout, overweight, and super high triglycerides. The doctor said with those conditions it was nearly impossible to live past six years. However, he also told me that if I would make the necessary adjustments and exercise, change my eating habits and lose weight I could live several more years. I made some changes. Now in 2009, I had all the tests redone and they all came out with no diabetes, uric acid levels OK, blood pressure under control, and triglycerides good and everything else just fine. Yes I made some adjustments but I didn’t lose all that much weight, only a little. The main thing was prayer. Prayer got results. It still is getting results too!

James 5:16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” You can pray for yourself to be healed and you can also pray for others who are sick as James told us to.

He’s the same today! Jesus still heals today. Therefore do not listen to those ninnies that say Jesus does not heal and start listening to what the Word of God says, and then you can have your healing.

Get your healing from the Doctor!

Doctor Jesus that is!

FEAR DOES NOT EXIST IN GOD'S WRESTLING RING

By Rev. Johnny Lee Clary

No matter where I travel, whether it be in the USA or another nation, I am always running into people who are confused about the calling of God upon their life. Either they are working hard to fulfill the calling of God upon their lives or they are just sitting idly by doing nothing to help advance the Kingdom.

I can’t count how many people I have met in my 20 years in the ministry that tell me they once felt they were called of God to preach, or go on the mission field, or pastor a church or sing or play music. So what’s the problem? Most people do not take that step towards accomplishing what God has called them to do because of fear. If they have fear then they are not trusting God to lead, order and direct their steps like the word says. (Proverbs 3:5)

Sometimes they listen to the wrong people who discourage them from following what they feel God has called them to do. What they do not take into consideration is that most of the people who say you can’t walk on water have never even gotten out of the boat. If I had listened to all of the idiots including my own family members who told me I would never be a preacher and I was stupid for thinking that I could be, then hundreds of thousands of souls would not be saved today. I had one relative tell me I would never amount to anything and today she is way out in left field with a mind all burned out from drugs. Another relative has battled multiple marriages and alcoholism and yet another relative is a left wing backslidden Christian who is a chronic gambler. All of them told me I would never amount to anything. Glad I didn’t listen to them!

God has not given us the spirit of fear. If God didn’t give it to us then fear is of Satan. Satan is the creator of fear and he created it because he does not want you doing God’s will. Satan is not big enough or powerful enough to stop God but he can stop Christians from doing God’s will if he can put enough fear into them where they become cowards and make the choice to stop themselves. I had my fill of fear when I was young. I saw it all. My father committed suicide in front of me. My sister let her boyfriend beat the hell out of me all the time. I had to live in East L.A., in gang ridden territory. I was chased and beaten by gangs. I joined the KKK and looked to the White brotherhood for protection.

I lived a life of hate and violence before coming to the Lord. I have faced down rival gangs, been shot at, been in knife fights, gang brawls, barroom brawls, survived contract hits, faced down literally thousands of counter-demonstrators at White supremacist marches, and survived attacks from the Black Panthers, Black Muslims, Communists, KKK, Nazis, gangs, and just about every type of enemy you can think of.

After I became a Christian, if I was naive enough to think that the attacks would stop, then I was living in fantasyland. I was attacked a lot. This time though, the attacks came from so-called ‘Christians’ who again told me I would never be a preacher, I was an idiot, since I was once a Klansman I would always be a Klansman because God does not forgive people who used to be KKK members, and I have had these people attack me for twenty years and they have never let up. However, the key to it all is that I have never let those jerks get the best of me. I have no fear of them and never will. Why in the world would I fear a bunch of busybodies nerds with big mouths when I faced and defeated some of the meanest gang members and hate-mongers from Bad Street USA? Besides I fear no man. I used to fight in bars and in the gang wars. Oh yes I got beat a few times, but the person who beat me almost always regretted it. If I couldn’t take someone with my hands I would come back with a baseball bat. If I couldn’t take them with a baseball bat, I would come back with an army. If I couldn’t take them with an army then I would come back with fire and I am not talking about the Holy Ghost fire because I wasn’t saved back then. I will leave that to your imagination. People hated making my list. I am talking about the list of people who lived to regret underestimating the old me before I was born again. The people who have attacked me since I was saved, have got a lot to be thankful for especially that I am truly saved, redeemed and walking in the ways of the Lord. Otherwise…well we will leave that to the imagination too! They just better hope I never backslide!

So what is my secret? It’s no secret..it is a recipe. It is found in the word of God. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not unto your own understanding! (Prov. 3:5-6) I don’t care who opposes me! They are not bigger than God who is bigger than all my problems, bigger than all my fears; God is bigger than any mountain that I can or cannot see.

Fear is not some big giant wrestler who is bigger than the Holy Ghost which resides in you. You can face fear anytime day or night because God is with you! God plus one is the majority! The 14 year old little shepherd boy David was not in fear of Goliath because he knew he had God on his side. He defeated the giant and later became king of Israel! If he would have let fear control him, we never would have heard of him, and he certainly would never have been king.

You need to tell old Satan that the Holy Ghost power makes you the boss and he and his demons can get lost!

You need to remember that God is on your side, He is your tag team partner, and he is looking out for you! If God has given you a calling, go for it baby! Stop letting fear get in your way! When people try to discourage you tell them to go play on the freeway! Be a God-pleaser not a man-pleaser!

If God calls you He equips you. When God gives the vision He gives the provision!

You don’t want to be branded a coward for the rest of your life do you? You can’t be recognized if you don’t get in the fight. I wrestled a 6-man tag team match one night and me and one of my tag team partners carried most of the match while the other guy left the ring and went to the bathroom! He didn’t return until the last minute of the match and me and my regular partner won when he gave a clothesline to one guy, I hit the other with a chair and dropped the third guy with a DDT face first on the mat. The referee raised all three of our hands in victory and we turned to our partner who was M.I.A. (Missing In Action) and said “Where were you pal? “ He tried to give some excuse and said, “Hey I had you all’s backs man!” We told him where he could stuff it and that he had no part in our victory!

God is the head promoter. He has called you to step into the wrestling ring. If you take a powder and go back to the dressing room like a girlie man, then don’t expect to share in any glory. You may make it to heaven but you won’t get any rewards or recognition, and you certainly won’t wear a crown like those who did what God told them to and didn’t let fear get in the way!

FEAR DOES NOT EXIST IN GOD’S WRESTLING RING!

2 Timothy 1:7
, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

If you have a sound mind, go get in the ring!

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL POLICE in Jailing Drug Pushers

Ottawa County Ministerial Alliance
P.O. Box 1456
Miami, Ok. 74355

We of the Ottawa Country Ministerial Alliance would like to thank our law enforcement and the OBN (Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics) for Operation Wardog in which over 70 arrest warrants were issued in Miami and the surrounding areas. As law abiding citizens, we have a right to live in a community where the streets are safe for our children to play on, without fear of drug pushers selling drugs, drug addicts breaking into our homes, and meth labs being operated in our neighborhoods.

In this day and age when children need heroes to look up to, Hollywood has been glorifying drug pushers through movies and TV shows which send the wrong message to young people that they can get rich quick and live lavish lifestyles by dealing drugs. They fail to point out that by making the wrong choices in life, they not only destroy their own futures but those of friends and loved ones that are affected by their choice to sell, manufacture or use drugs as well.

As District Attorney Eddie Wyant stated most of the drug dealers were young in their late teens and early twenties and it is sad to see that they made the wrong choices to start their lives off with a prison and felony record that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. This will affect their job opportunities and standings in communities as well. As ministers of the gospel in the Ottawa County Ministerial Alliance we pray for those who have made these choices that they learn from the mistakes and the price they will now have to pay as the consequences of their actions. We also pray for all families in our community that they become aware of the drug problems in our area and allow Operation Wardog as well as future drug sting operations to serve as a lesson to young people that crime does not pay.

These brave men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line on a daily basis are the real heroes for our children to look up to and admire. Let us all keep our law enforcement officers in our prayers for their safety and may God bless them for their outstanding work that they do to serve and protect us in our daily lives to make our area drug free!

Bill Keller's Senseless Godless Attack On Glenn Beck

By Rev. Johnny Lee Clary

Bill Keller is a minister that has a rather large email/Internet ministry. Many have received encouragement from his emails, and he is faithful to send them out every day. Although Keller is quite capable of sending out a good strong word to encourage people he is also quite capable of being mean-spirited, judgmental and just plain downright hateful. He has attacked one of the nation’s leading conservative talk show personalities, Glenn Beck and this is one American Conservative Patriot that will not stand for seeing Glenn Beck kicked around like this. I would expect that sort of behavior Keller has displayed from a hippie left wing socialist Obama supporter, but not from someone who masquerades as a “Christian Conservative.” Keller cites the reason that he is attacking Beck is because Beck refers to himself as a Christian. Keller insists that Beck is not a Christian and is of Satan because Beck happens to be a Mormon.

Now I am also a public figure just like Keller but I am not as well known as Beck. I absolutely totally respect Glenn Beck and admire and champion him as someone who really cares about the people of America. I respect Keller also but not when he writes garbage like he did about Beck. Beck is trying to do something to save America from the clutches of a Communist-Muslim takeover, but Keller is more interested in seeking to attack Beck than save America from the godless liberals.

Keller discredits and attacks Beck and says Mormons are in the same category as Muslims. Maybe Mr. Keller needs to educate himself and spend more time researching before he writes such things because I for one have never heard of Mormons high-jacking airplanes and flying them into buildings killing thousands. I have never heard of Mormons cutting off the heads of those who refuse to convert to Mormonism, and I have also never heard of Mormon suicide bombers seeking to wipe Israel off the map by killing all the Jews.

Keller states that Beck and all Mormons believe that non-Mormons are "abominations." This is a lie and Mr. Keller needs to repent for saying such a thing. As a public figure there is a lot of advertisement and news stories put out when I go speak in churches, due to my background of being delivered from racism and from being the national leader of the KKK, and becoming a minister of racial reconciliation, advocating Civil Rights for all races. Many Mormons have come to hear my testimony and many have approached me and told me they were really touched. Yes I am sure that there are some Mormons who believe they are the only true way to God and that display self-righteous attitudes. However I have met many so-called Denominational Christians who say the same thing about their particular church or denomination. Keller needs to see how narrow-minded and judgmental he really is in making statements like that.

Keller actually attacked and said the same thing about Mitt Romney in 2008. I am sure some people didn’t vote for Romney based on what they might have read in Keller’s blogs. The bottom line was McCain failed at beating Obama, and Romney might have won because he is a great debater and would have put Obama on the defense. As one of the most successful businessmen in the USA, Romney would have offered an economic solution to the problems we face today whereas Obama has nearly destroyed our nation. I guess Keller would much rather have a godless Muslim in the White House than a Mormon. That goes against everything Keller has ever taught about Islam.

Now with war veterans sleeping in cardboard boxes under bridges, crime in the streets, unemployment at astronomical numbers, abortions skyrocketing, homosexuals getting the right to have same sex marriages, drug pushers taking over entire neighborhoods, illegal aliens flooding over our borders, a government no longer feeling bound to protect or to be sympathetic towards Israel, and a president that says America is no longer a Christian nation; Keller would rather spend his time and energy attacking a conservative patriotic American who is doing a great job of rallying the people to reject this communist Health Care plan, and to unite Conservatives all over America, and that is not right!

In the same article of his attack on Beck, Keller has also attacked Gov. Mike Huckabee accusing him of selling out the people by being more concerned about his FOX NEWS TV show that running for President in 2012. He has attacked the number one Christian patriot women’s speaker in the USA, Ann Coulter, as well as Dr. James Dobson and Rev. Pat Robertson. He slams FOX News so he must be for the alternative CNN which should stand for Communist News Network.

Keller also criticizes Mormons for keeping gay marriage out of California. What is wrong with that? Could it be that Keller is in league with Ted Haggard, Roberts Liarden and some of the other boys from the “Church Of Brokeback Mountain?” If not then why would he dare to attack anyone that would be instrumental in saving California from the fate of legalized same sex perverted marriages? Something to ponder.

Keller did a great job of taking a stand against the Satanic Cult of Islam a few years ago, and if he feels called to try to demolish that cult, then by all means he should stick to that curriculum. He needs to leave Beck alone and allow Beck to continue doing the great job he is doing in finally bringing unity to Conservatives world-wide. When the greatest godly President that ever served America, Ronald Reagan was elected, he didn’t go around speaking division; he spoke unity in order to get elected! Conservatives all over the USA, including Mormons, Baptists, Pentecostals, Catholics, Methodists and others all united as the Moral Majority, under the leadership of great men like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, and helped sweep a peanut farmer all the way back to Plains, Georgia, by putting a Christian in the White House for 8 years. Keller should learn from the past and stop this senseless brutal attack on men like Beck and Romney. If Keller is not for conservative unity, then he is against it and that my friends, puts Bill Keller on the same side of the godless liberals.

Keller has made an appeal to his readers to write Glenn Beck as well as his producer and beg them to have him on Glenn’s show for a debate. I appeal to Glenn Beck and his producer that if they choose to allow that to happen, then please bring me on with Keller and I will put Bill Keller in his place once and for all. Mr. Beck won’t have to. By the time I get done with Keller, he will wish he would have stayed at home because I will expose him as the bigot that he is. I am asking you to email and ask them to have me on the show also if they are going to have Keller on. You can email Beck and his producer at:

Fake Preachers: How To Recognize Them

By Rev. Johnny Lee Clary

The world is full of fake preachers. Some have small churches and some have large churches. Some are well known TV celebrities and some are not. Ok, so how does one recognize them? Do you know how? Can you and your family tell the difference between a genuine real man of God or a fake charlatan? Any parent in their right mind would go to any lengths to protect their children from pedophiles and dope pushers. In the same respect, you have a responsibility as a parent to protect your family against these fakes and their heresies they teach from their pulpits. “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” (Colossians 2:8)

Jesus said we would know them by their fruits. "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them.” (Matthew 7:15-16)

One thing to watch out for is they often impose rules and regulations upon their congregation and attempt to control their personal lives. When the preacher starts imposing rules such as asking permission to miss church, watch out! He might even say that single women should look at him as their “spiritual father” and forbid them to date without his permission and approval of the man they are dating. Fake preachers try to control you both inside and outside the church doors.

My wife Melissa, tells the story about how when she used to attend a certain church in Miami, Oklahoma when she was a teenager, the pastor forbade the church members to go see a movie starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds. The pastor and his board of elders, took turns setting across the street from the movie theater, writing down the names of any people they recognized that went into the theater. Another time, Melissa was working at a skating rink and some of the women from the church approached her and told her she was in sin because she was leading the kids astray by playing secular music at the skating rink and allowing dancing on the skates. They offended her so bad that she stopped attending that church.

People come to church to worship God, be encouraged, be taught the word of God, and not to be controlled.

A fake preacher will often build his ‘church’ which turns into a cult, by tearing down someone else’s church, stealing the sheep, and bad-mouthing other ministries. A true man of God will never use tactics like that to build his church. Exposing false prophets is ne thing, but slamming legitimate Christians is an entirely different matter.

Why do people listen to fake pastors? Well, some people are just vulnerable and easy to deceive. That is why it is important to know God’s word, study it, pray and be filled with the Holy Spirit so you can walk in discernment. This will protect you and your family from falling victim to fakes.

Eventually people will wake up and smell the coffee sometimes. Other times however they don’t until it is too late. Such as was the case with Jim Jones and the People’s Temple. Around 1000 people either committed suicide or were murdered at the hands of this cult, which consisted of mind control, sexual immorality, child abuse, homosexuality, and other types of perversion and unhealthy relationships. The People’s Temple was a large mega church and had memberships in the thousands. It held large crusades which packed out stadiums all over the USA, until its demise. Fake preachers come in all shapes and sizes and so do their churches. Just because a church is a large church does not mean it is not a cult. Thousands of people can be deceived the same as a handful of people.

Another thing to watch out for is when the fake preachers start distorting God’s word, adding to it, or only preaching half-truths. For instance, when they say “Jesus never said such and such so that means it’s OK.” Wrong! Jesus does not have to spell out every single thing. People, especially believers are expected to use common sense and wisdom. One preacher wrote a blog where he said Jesus never addressed the issue of homosexuality, and implied that because He didn’t mention it, it is ‘OK to be gay.’ First of all, it is not recorded that Jesus ever preached against the sin of having sex with a gorilla or a donkey either, but that does not mean it is OK. Only a certified idiot would believe that type of philosophy but there are a lot of idiots out there. Second of all, this guy does not know that Jesus did or didn’t mention it because it says in St. John 21:25 that there were many other things that Jesus said and did that if every one of them were written down, the world wouldn't have enough room for the books that would be written. Last but not least remember the word of God says “Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.” (Proverbs 30:6)

If the pastor of the church you are attending starts suggesting that homosexuals should be allowed to join the church or get married, or if the pastor begins to question things like the virgin birth, the second coming of Christ, whether or not there is a Hell, and whether Jesus is the ONLY way to get to Heaven, get out of that church fast! If the preacher even suggests that God will judge whether or not Muslims or other cults go to Heaven and it is not for us to judge, run away fast because that preacher is too cowardly to preach the truth that Jesus said which is He is the ONLY way to get to Heaven. (John 14:6)

A fake preacher will try to convince his church that God speaks through him even if it is in contrast to God’s word. He will also put more emphasis upon himself rather than God, and either he or his leadership teams will stress the ‘word’ of the pastor more than the word of Jesus. They will also cause division in your home or even your marriage. People will also become disappointed with God or the church because fake preachers will make promises claiming to speak for God, and they never give instructions on how to seek God for fulfillment of these promises. The fake preacher gets the people all sidetracked into programs that center on other things that distract from seeking Jesus, and people lose that special personal time with God and then they feel abandoned, empty and disillusioned with God and the church. They begin to see their relationship with God as meaningless. When this happens the light seems to go out in them. The happiness and joy leaves and they stop producing the fruit in their lives that Jesus says people will know them by. “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”(1 Timothy 4:1)

How do we protect ourselves from fake preachers?

  1. KNOW GOD’S WORD and make sure what is being preached lines up with it. If a preacher s not preaching the Message Of The Cross, chances are he is a fake, or just doesn't understand that our achievements and victories are a direct result of what Christ did on the cross. We can only achieve success when we understand that He ( Jesus Christ) already achieved it for us by what He did n the Cross. Titus 1:9 says be devoted to the trustworthy message that is taught. Then he can use those accurate teachings to encourage people and correct those who oppose the word. Don't let anything including your church and your preacher come between you and your time with God in study of His word. If you don’t make time for God’s word you can be in danger of being led astray.
  2. Make sure your preacher and his church leaders believe the entire bible word for word and not just part of it.
  3. Make sure your preacher is consistent in what he preaches and that he lives his life for God all the way, preaching the Message Of The Cross.
  4. Have nothing to do with fake preachers, their leadership or anyone who teaches false doctrine. 2 John 7-10 tells us that we are not to even speak to or greet those who teach false doctrine. Get as far away from fake preachers as possible and do not give them the time of day.

Today, these new age churches are teaching many things that do not line up with the word of God and they are open to new age ideas and philosophies that they call “thinking outside the box.” All they care about is church growth because it expands their power base and gives them prestige positions in the world of kissing up and church celebrity celebration. They are not only embracing and teaching worldly philosophies that do not line up with the word of God, but they are openly hostile to the ones that do. A time will come when people will not listen to accurate teachings. Instead, they will follow their own desires and surround themselves with teachers who tell them what they want to hear. People will refuse to listen to the truth and turn to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
That time is here.

Therefore watch, pray, listen, be cautious, and do not neglect God’s word. When you know the word, you know the truth and the truth shall set you free. By the way, the truth is defined as JESUS. He is the way, the truth and the life! The more you set your eyes upon Him, the safer you will be. If you are in the right relationship with Jesus, you probably won’t fall into the snares of these predators known as fake preachers.

WRESTLING WITH JESUS

by Rev. Johnny Lee Clary

1 Peter 5:7 Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you.

Jesus tells us that if we take our worries and things that stress us out and give it to Him, He will take care of it. Jesus has your back. It sort of reminds me of my old professional wrestling days, when I was in a tag team match. I liked tag team matches because you had a partner if you were lucky who had your back. If you started getting tired, you just tagged your partner and he would take over for awhile. Of course I was a heel (villain) in the business so a tag team partner came in handy with double teaming to.

I want you to see life as a wrestling match with Jesus as your tag team partner. First you set out to do the job God has called you or placed you in to do. Then when things get tiring or a little rough, tag in Jesus by casting your cares on Him and He will relieve you of the burden.

Another thing about the wrestling days, was we created a gang in wrestling called “The Brat Pack,” which consisted of myself, Bill Ash, my brother Buddy Savage, and my wife Melissa, (Miss Becky Starr) and a few others that came and went over the years. We had a motto, “Mess with one of us and you mess with all of us.” We held to this both in and out of the ring. Whenever I had a problem with someone for instance, my brother Buddy Savage (Terry Clary) would step up and get in the guy’s faces and say, “If there’s a problem, I’ll take care of it!” Whenever it looked like I might be in danger of losing my title, the rest of the Brat Pack would interfere so I could keep my belt. As a result, I retired as champion!

You need to know that no matter how many are coming after you, like the Brat Pack, Jesus is right there in the faces of your adversaries and saying, “If there’s a problem, I’ll take care of it.” I am that way even today with my close friends. I remember my late friend Rosie from Tulsa, a couple of years before she died, called me because some lawyer at her job where she worked as a receptionist, was sexually harassing her and making her feel very uncomfortable. I remember going to visit her on the job and she introduced me to him as her brother ( which was true because I was her brother in Christ) and I got right up in his face and said, “If there’s a problem, I’ll take care of it!” He never bothered Rosie again.

You need to use that same faith and realize that when Satan is attacking you, just call upon Jesus and he will get up in the Devil’s face and say, “If there’s a problem, I’ll take care of it.”

Jesus said that we should come to Him. This is because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and that no man can go the Father except through Him.(John 14:6) “The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and they are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10)
